Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Competition

Hostelling International Chicago, in partnership with The Peace Museum, Columbia College and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, is once again hosting a competition for art students in Chicago honoring the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. Last year, six artists were invited to create murals on the second floor windows of the Hostelling International Chicago, at the corner of Congress and Wabash. This year, twenty student artists will be invited to participate in this unique opportunity! Learn more

Cultural Kitchen Youth Outreach Program
Celebrates the Cultural Spice of Life! Throughout history and around the globe, people have gathered around a meal to meet, to plan, to settle disputes, to make friendships, and build community. In that spirit of understanding, Hostelling International - Chicago established the Cultural Kitchen Youth Outreach program. Cultural Kitchen, click here.

Exchange Neighborhoods
A n educational youth outreach program that teaches high school students from Chicago's often segregated and culturally isolated neighborhoods to build pride around their own culture, while opening their minds to learn about a new neighborhood and culture of their peers. Travel Education - Get out and see the world!
A specialty of Hostelling International is travel education. Several workshops and lectures are presented regularly. Informative travel programs are offered in addition to educational topics which include Traveling Solo, Women Travelers, and for the beginning traveler. World Travel Resources, click here.

Student Center at HI-Chicago
With the presentation of a valid Student ID Card university and college students are invited to use the "center" and participate in all hostel-organized programs and activities. Visiting students will find a center enriched by international travelers. For the Student Center, click here.

Girl Scout Troops
Hostelling engenders a spirit of adventure, interaction, and discovery. Hostels provide a setting that is safe, clean, environmentally sensitive, comfortable, and friendly. Troop leaders will find hostel stays are easy to plan, affordable, and fun. Troops find hostels to be a great place to build friendships, develop a sense of community, and meet international travelers. HI-Chicago offers an array of program options to add to your adventure.
